Notes: It's hard to credit that daorchluiche is the officially-recommended term for "baseball" in Irish when it looks like the kind of clumsy overliteral translation you would expect from a machine. The first element, daor means "base" in the sense of "lowly" or "servile". Or is this just an unkind commentary on our National Pastime from a bunch of hurley-wielding maniacs?

cap pêl-fâs or het pêl-fâs (surprisingly, they do play baseball in Wales (http://cy.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C3%AAl-f%C3%A2s_Cymreig).)

I'd probably go for die Baseballmütze or das (Baseball-)Käppi, or possibly even die Schirmmütze, instead.

(Though Schirmmütze sounds a tad old-fashioned to me. Sort of like Leibesübungen for Sport/Gymnastik.)

Basecap is what I hear people say for baseball cap.
Schirmmütze is too generic, and more often used for different kinds of caps, imho.

I've never seen daorchluiche before. I always just call it cruicéad poncánach. :D
