As much as I enjoyed tonight's 8-1 blowout (sorry, bunj, for ruining the 4th for you with my lack of TiVo awareness), the game I really wish I'd seen is last night's. Nine-and-a-half scoreless innings, and it all comes down to a single run in the bottom of the 10th? Amazing!

In other baseball news, how bout them Padres? Also, Cubs fan must be overjoyed at the end of their club's eight game losing streak. (When I made mention of the recent sweep last weekend, my touchy neighbour pointed out that at least they were doing better than the White Sox. Yeah, you and fourteen other major league teams.)

I remain amazed that one gay head can cheerfully accommodate both baseball and opera (a.k.a. queens' baseball)!

Another member of the darkphuque generation speaks up! Seriously, it's never occurred to me that there's an incongruity. After all, the same man (65 years old this April!) taught me to love both. Although opera and baseball both have different rhythms, they also have a lot in common. Is fantasising about your dream team for the Series really any different from imagining your dream cast for the Ring?
