Never knew we had a word for snow shovel in Dutch. I don't think I'd ever even seen one until I came to the US.
When we first moved here my husband had to actually demonstrate Correct Snow Shoveling Technique (as taught by the New England School of Snow Shoveling) so I wouldn't give myself a back injury shoveling our sidewalk.
Creid é nó ná creid, is féidir "sneachta" a shéimhiú. Agus tá gá leis sin anseo, más fíor do na gramadóirí: sluasaid shneachta. Cé go bhfuil daoine ann a déarfadh nach ionann sluasaid a bhfuil sneachta ann agus sluasaid a úsáidtear chun sneachta a bhogadh. Is beag an difear é sin, dar liomsa. Dá mbeadh sluasaid *déanta as sneachta* agat, áfach... :-) O, agus níl an fleiscín ag teastáil: an tsluasaid.
My grandpa uses a "regular showel" to dig out snow in his village... But they haven't had snow in a while... Oh, well, it's been very cold lately, maybe I should call them.
