I think I've only ever heard the Dutch word used to describe Christ's suffering. Or, in your translation, "Christ's sob story".

what is the source of the French? Is there a particularly lachrymose kind of people who live in chaumières, or is this a class-based thing, like the "music for maids" epithet for forro? Are we dealing with some kind of petit-bourgeois melodrama or similar?

I've been trying to provide when I can, and when I can remember ^_-

Here you could say something like 涙をそそる話、namida o sosoru hanashi, "a story that provokes tears", or a お涙ちょうだいもの, o-namida choudai mono, "a 'tears please' thing"; the latter can also be also be "お涙ちょうだい話", o-namida choudai hanashi", but either way with "o-namida choudai" it's far more cynical, as though to say, "Kee-rist, here comes his sob story again ...".

Make it idiomatic in Spanish: "un dramonazo de tres pares de cojones"
Tragedia is too standard!

New suggestions:

"cuentos chinos"
"telenovelas" or "culebrones"
"la biblia en verso"

a friend of mine uses
"tragicomedia" and "psicodrama"

The sentences are really funny :)

Brazilian Portuguese:
"ladainha"
"papo furado" (for a story that goes on and on)
"colloquio flacido para calentar bovindos"- I think the spelling on this is right, even though I didn't get any google hits searching for it. My spelling in Portuguese is atrocious.

"Ne reconte-moi..." recte: Ne me raconte...

"ní a fhios uaim" Bheadh ort "ní" a athrú go "níl" ar a laghad. Tuigim é sin, cé nár chuala mé a leithéid riamh. Déarfainn rud éigin ar nós: "Níl mé ag iarraidh é a chloisteáil.

Ní mór dom fios a bheith agam

"Ní mór/ní foláir/caithfidh fios a bheith agam..." a déarfainn féin, ie: gan an "dom" sin.

Thuigfí thú ach níl cuma nádúrtha ar an abairt sin thuas agat. B'fhearr rud éigin ar nós:

Ná hinis do scéilín beag truamhéalach dhomsa, níl mé ag iarraidh (é) a chloisteáil.
