Surprisingly positive response to yesterday's overlong entry. [livejournal.com profile] bunj actually called to thank me for scoring him Chinese food. Seems his wife read my loving description of xiao li and was left drooling for it.

(Rest assured that "Mr Vain" will remember this next time he gets any flak for maintaining a weblog.)

I made myself so hungry that, on the way home, I picked up some of Man's Most Perfect Meat and stir-fried it with lots of fresh ginger and Szechwan pepper-salt. The GWO, for his part, is probably going to hit New Chinatown today to stock up on ingredients. He's indicated that he wants to try cooking cha siu pork at home, which of course only makes me faint in admiration for him all the more

I like it better in the original: "Vivir sin puerco es vivir a medias." This should've been among the pork billboards clustered near the airport. Of course, nothing comes near: "Comience el dia con PUERCO!"

I may have to post about my suophilia before too long.

I agree. Of course, you have been a posting fiend lately. I think some skeeters bit you in Utah and infected you with the East Nile Writin' Virus. Or maybe lyme disease.

Four things goin' on:

  1. I didn't write anything while in Utah (though I did think about walking over to the CyberCafé and logging in). That's ten days of material all stored up.
  2. I've been trying to write a bunch of short articles to balance out the longer ones. The more I pump out, the sooner things like the Ballad of the Heroic Three will drop off lists of the "last 25 entries" and such like.
  3. I must write. For a while, I spewed on Usenet. Then I decided this was becoming a bad habit and cut myself off. Then I started spouting off on mailing lists. I tried to cut down on that, and now my rants 'n' stuff are spilling over into LiveJournal.
  4. Work didn't get any more interesting while I was away.

Thank you for the loving description, Daniel. :) I very much enjoyed the General.
