Tulip tree

Recently, [livejournal.com profile] monshu said something about the "tulip trees" blooming. I asked him the same thing I've asked others--"If you call the magnolias 'tulip trees', then what do you call tulip trees?"--and got the same response I've heard before--"What's a 'tulip tree' then?" I couldn't find a really good image when I did last year's plant quiz, but it turns out it was because I didn't know to search under the Japanese name:

Liriodendron tulipifera L.. The flowers lok very Magnoliaesque, but occur high up in the trees. in the same family as Magnolias. Some hapless photog probably risked his life to get that shot. :)

Dude. They made lj-cuts for large photos like this one. :}

(I dunno if it's LJ's friends-page code, or my copy of MSIE, but any time somebody posts a huge graphic several of my friends-page entries overwrite each other. Pain in the neck.)

Dude, it's only 800 pixles wide! Tell you Friends to post a lot of entries so this drops off your Friends page soon. I'll do my part.

In related botanical news, I'm just finishing off the most obscene looking Pear (Pyrus spp.) receptacle+fruit I have ever had. My enthusiasm to hide the pornograhphy of this pear was so great that I bit through the sticky label, instead of first removing it and adding it to the collection on my CPU.

Re: bldgs: true true

Dude, some of us read LJ on screens that are only 200 pixels wide! (Though fortunately, unlike long text strings that make every other line run off the edge of the screen, the web browser is evidently able to shrink pictures appropriately.)

FREAK!

Are you remembering to pick the "PDA friendly" option when you go to livejournal.com?

Yo.

Are you remembering to pick the "PDA friendly" option when you go to livejournal.com?

The who in the what now? That didn't AFAIK exist when I set up my PDA bookmark last year. For that matter, I'm not seeing where the option is now. (Though as I mentioned, except for the occasional mega-text string the PDA browser seems to format LJ fine anyway.)
