Ah, Chicago you always do this to me: get it together and show me you best side right before I'm about to leave you. Hopefully that's a sign it will be equally beautiful in Toronto. Right now the Weather Channel is predicting highs in the low 70s there which would be ideal. (I'm not so thrilled with the ongoing chance of thunderstorms, but that's basically part and parcel of good summer weather in the Midwest.)

Tonight I plan to do the laundry and start packing. Oh, and see if I can find what I did with the few bills and coins left over from my last trip to Canada. When I informed Discover about my vacation plans, they informed me they're still "growing" their brand in Toronto, which I suppose means breaking out the Chase Visa I hate to use.

There's a streetcar line running right past our b&b, but it looks fucked up west of the city centre due to summer construction, which blows. Also, the weekly passes go Monday-Sunday and of course we'll be there Saturday-Friday. Still seems it will be worth it, but a full day of travel on Saturday should settle the question.

On the plus side, I think I've convinced monshu to pack his kilt for the photo shoot. He was asking last night what accoutrements he should take and I said just a belt and a sporran. A shirt would be unnecessary, and I figure we can count on bitterlawngnome to have some woad ready for our use. Now, any volunteers for someone to play the effete Englishman getting his face ground into the dirt under his great Scottish heel?

On Sundays and Holidays -- ie, May 23 -- you can buy a day pass for the TTC that is good for unlimited travel for TWO adults. It costs $10. On other days, the passes are good for only one person, so you need for separate trips to make it worthwhile. You can buy tokens for $2.50 each if you buy 5 or 10, each good for one ride. You might find that a combination of day passes and tokens works out to a better value (although it is not as convenient.)

When do you get in on Saturday? You mentioned wanting feijoada, and it is typically a Saturday thing. I can think of a couple of places on St Clair, and you could probably walk in anywhere along Dundas around Ossington & find it. Caju is, I think, supposed to be good for a more upscale version.

Discover hasn't made it to Canada yet, no.
