Shadowcast the menu!
Excellent as it is, McCawley's Eater's guide to Chinese characters did not shed any light on the names of the chow mein dishes from Saturday's menu. Once I pick that book up, however, I can't help browsing, and I eventually stumbled upon a dish of duck intestine and blood called Féilóng hǔi yāhóng or "Fatty dragon meets duck red".
You can hardly blame me for immediately trying to envision the Hong Kong film of that name.
Fatty Dragon would almost have to be played by Sammo Hung. But who would we get for Duck Red?
