I have to agree with [livejournal.com profile] paladincub when he says "at this point, this weather thing better be bad - i'm talking some real riderless pale horse shit." Seriously, I can't recall the last time we had so much damn hype about a snowstorm. A single inch has fallen since last night and already I'm hearing of entire universities shutting down preemptively. Our place reportedly didn't even close for the Blizzard of '79, so I'm not expecting to have a day off tomorrow. But so far they've cancelled the weekly staff social, the biweekly administrative meeting, and a safety presentation scheduled for the afternoon.

BREAKING NEWS! Just got word that we close at 5 p.m. today. (Normally we'd stay open until 3 a.m.) Of course, I normally leave at 5, so this affects me not a bit. (Unless, of course, they suspend shuttle service. Oh, crap.)

Given the crazed alerts, there'd better be goddamn Wampas rampaging around.

Its hitting the ground in ernest out here, its the outer edge of the from coming from the south - the really funny thing is the wind looks like its coming out of the east, which is just a bit disconcerting. Its official , I can't see the house that's about a city block away.

I think they are just trying to put the scare into everyone to get home and stay there. But I agree Snowverloadapocageddon, is as the Onion has the potential to cause much trouble for the nation's Idiots....As of this morning when one of our household thought the better of waiting on picking up a prescription still no signs of panic stocking up at the Jewel.

I'm told Cornell's closed until 10:30. In the meantime, a light coating of black ice here in the Ile de France has stopped goddamn everything. Again.

Raving Wampas. With little Han Solos on them. I could probably really be happy about that. I've already been out shovelling three times this morning, and wondering if, perhaps, one could take a bath in arnica gel to ward off the back spasms. I think brandycake and tea are in my future. Gwyn

Work let out 2.5 hours early on Tuesday, and we got Wednesday off. But so far it's back tomorrow (Thurs). I am not looking forward to the commute if Metra is messed up. Then it'll be Bus 15 to 47th and the Dan Ryan, because Lake Shore is still closed as far as I know. And it's supposed to be 0 and windy tomorrow.
