I must know!? Of the Ginger Liqueurs you have tried which is your favorite? Part of this is my on-going quest to figure out how to create the ultimate ginger syrup for cocktails - The Dark & Stormy, the Presbyterian, the Moscow Mule.... etc.... . But I want find a ginger liqueur to pair with fruit or desserts. I've eyed Canton over the years but never had the chance to investigate....
I've never cared much for the Canton. Our faves are the Koval and the Massenez Crème de Gingembre. The latter is sweet enough to be drunk as a cordial, although not at all cloying. It's probably your best bet. The Koval has a stronger ginger flavour and isn't as sweet, so it's best as a mixer. Nuphy likes to mix it with Ransom Old Tom for a "dirty gingertini". (Thus the demise of the bottle last weekend.)
Its uncanny that you somehow knew of my unspoken "cloying" as disqualifying characteristic...Thank you. Feel free to similarly wax on Calvados, if you're inclined to share.
