Sleepless in Montreal

Been up for the last hour watching dawn spread over the city. This time, I don't even have reflux to blame, since I didn't have aught to drink last night and Le Lutin took pains to eat early and eat bland. We ended up at a mediocre Greek place (La cabanne grecque? Something like that.) on Prince-Arthur, since he wanted an excuse to show me Le Plateau. Nice enough, but I found much more enjoyment in a stroll through the Quartier Latin afterwards. Will have to return for more bookshopping (something with no appeal at all to my guide).
Yesterday afternoon, when I was at my lowest ebb and didn't want to deal with anyone, I gravitated toward the bookstores, spending a good chunk of time in one just off the UQAM campus. First, though, I recharged my batteries in a tiny hidden park off of a block-long street called Rue Lartigue. It was an utterly charming surprise, a picturesque little corner of a city I've found disappointingly charmless in many respects.
[more later; I think I'm keeping my flatmate from sleeping]
