I don't think I've ever heard that word before in my life.

I think that German simply has no (commonly-used) noun phrase equivalent for this, and you'd have to rephrase instead, as in these translation suggestions on the dict.leo.org forum.

Thirded. No one ever uses that word. You'd probably just say "der Point of No Return" or "Jetzt gibt es kein Zurück mehr" (for "we have reached...")

I'm not saying I'm 100% right, but we say "El punto sin retorno"... It sounds more idiomatic (Ditto in Catalan: "El punt sense retorn"
