monshu was lamenting the other day that the season of summer festivals is almost to a close in Chicago and he hasn't made it to one. I looked at the schedule for this weekend and found two biggies that neither of us has ever made it to: the
Turkish World Festival at Navy Pier and the
Carifete in Hyde Park. Obviously, it would be impractical to do both, so what can people tell us to help us choose between them? Navy Pier is more accessible to us, but it looks like the events are chiefly indoors, which to my mind kind of violates the whole notion of what a summer festival is about. What good is it to have all those smokin' Turkish men in one place and none of them taking their shirts off? (Unless of course there's an oil wrestling event that they somehow forgot to mention on the website.)
