I'm puzzled about the Catalan choice, as I had never heard it. The GEC dictionary hasn't got that word (http://www.enciclopedia.cat/cgi-bin/CercaGEC3.exe?APP=CERCAPAR&PAG=0001&PAR=parador) with that meaning and I thought you were wrong. Until I checked an online translator which confirmed that word and just remembered that a normal way to ask "What are his whereabouts" is "Per on para"

És que l'has cercat en el lloc incorrecte. La cerca per defecte de la GEC es fa sobre l'Enciclopèdia i no sobre el Diccionari. Si cerques només el Diccionari, trobaràs com primer definició el següent: "m 1 Lloc on algú o alguna cosa para o va a parar. De parador ignorat, desconegut."

Sigui com sigui, és útil saber que la paraula aquesta no forma part del llenguatge colloquial (almenys per on pares tu).
