Asaltado por la carretera
I don't know how the weather is further south, but up here in E-ton, the clouds have parted and the sunshine has converted the rainwater into lovely lovely humidity. (I do hope that Californian I live with isn't suffering too terribly about now.) Something else is different up here as well: Walking back from lunch, I spotted a paletero from La Monarca. Since I seldom if ever see them outside of the city, I seized the moment and got a cookies-'n'-cream bar. $2! I've never been charged more than $1.25 before. (For those of your weak on your math, that's a 60% markup for crossing border from Rogers Park.) And I ordered in Spanish--like I always do--so you can't even ascribe it to Dumb Gringo Tax.
