Some merry prankster produced this video of Rammstein performance footage recut to match the song "Bayern, des samma mia" ("Bavaria, that's us!") from Bavarian folk-pop combo Haindling. It's mildly amusing.

Then, in the interests of equal time, he recut a Haindling performance to synch up with Rammstein's "Du Hast". For reasons I can't explain, the result is like ten times funnier.

for me, the trouble with the first one is that Rammstein's Fritz Lang style combines with the cheery Bayerische tootlhorns to produce a sense of impending doom, just like the "tomorrow belongs to me" moment in Cabaret (perhaps because I happen to know that Metropolis bankrupted Germany's largest cinema owner, allowing it to be snapped up by Hugenberg in 1928 of so). So: end result is sinister proto-fascism, not cognitive-dissonant pastoral celebration.

The second one is absolutely convincing, though. If it weren't for the mismatch in instrumentation, those moments where the baldy guy is gesticulating would fool me completely. Delightful.
