For about a week, I've been eager to unearth my Pimsleur Irish CDs and have another go at the lessons, but I've despaired of ever locating them in the total non-system employed by [livejournal.com profile] monshu in packing his boxes. Then today he tasked me with pulling out some music to play for our guests tonight, so I was forced to confront it anyways. After patiently sorting through two boxes cobbled together from odds and ends in his old computer nook, I had in my palms not only the language learning CDs and those music CDs I intended to play tonight, but something I never thought I'd see again: The first disc of music from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer tv series.

How long ago did I buy this? Season Five or something? But I made the fatal mistake of leaving it in the CD drive on [livejournal.com profile] monshu's computer. Anything he finds there gets stowed in the first CD case he puts his hands on, and happy day if that's actually the one it belongs in. As it happened, it was the High Fidelity soundtrack that fell under his meaty paw, so that's where Buffy has been quietly sitting for the last six years or so. (Clearly, it's been some time since I was burning to hear Sheila Nicholls.) Although I ceased actively looking in 2006 or so, I never gave up on the possibility of coming across the recording again--to the point that I insisted on keeping the original case all these years.

Now if I could only figure out where that ended up!

I belong to the same school of CD ordering as monshu. We have the right of putting CDs in wrong cases, mostly losing them, mostly forgetting where they are and make our cute partners get mad at us for doing so :)

I'm usually pretty good at putting things back where they're supposed to be, but I did something similar to your story with a Dead Can Dance CD. I even went so far as buying a replacement, even though I kept the old case. Finally, after several years, splitting up CDs with the ex, and moving halfway across the country, I finally found it hiding, doubled up in something else's case, while on a project to rip all of my CDs. And now I have two copies. Oh well!

Lord knows I considered buying a second copy of that Pimsleur set (since the first wasn't that expensive anyway), but fortunately it wasn't necessary!
