Yesterday morning, I was taken aback to discover the lakeshore ice-bound once more. Today there was a heavy mist which created the illusion that the icepack stretched all the way to the horizon. On my way to work, I could hear droplets of condensation falling the bare trees. And still the spring flowers on Arthur are persevering; I even saw a swelling bud on one of the jonquils.
I woke up all of fifteen minutes before I had to leave to catch the shuttle. Incredibly, I was even able to fit in a shower (I almost literally jumped in and jumped back out again), but it saddened me to skip tea and toast for another day in a row, and even more to have to ignore Musil's cries for attention. Still, I feel I did my part last night to try to interest him in the new catnip-dusted scratching boards, and with little to show for it.
