Unverschämtheit auf dem Internet

So Dad called to ask me about gifts for
monshu. In a futile attempt to prevent my darling from getting sucked into my family's gift-giving malaise, I reminded him, "He won't even be coming down". "Yeah, but you will." Sorry, honey; I tried. He talked to me about the massive Amazon order he spent much of the day assembling. "But I didn't get the $600 item off of your list, I can tell you that!" I was stunned: I know I have some high-ticket items on there (mostly out-of-print academic works and the like), but I still couldn't think of any which even hit the $200 mark. So I had to see for myself.
Sure enough, Die Haarteppichknupfer by Andreas Eschbach--Amazon price: $644.79. USED! (In a burst of what I can only describe as monumental chutzpah, the words "LOW ITEM PRICE" appear next to this.) I'm sure
itchwoot in particular is goggling at the fact that somebody seems to think there's an American dumb enough to spend €500 for something he could find at his local Flohmarkt for €5. Well, Jonger, pick up ten copies, declare yourself a used book seller on Amazon.com, and build your own recording studio with the profits!

Scheint aber auch ein wenig selten zu sein, Amazon.de hat es gebraucht für 40 EUR. Ich würde mir dann wahrscheinlich lieber die Paperback-Version holen.
Oh, und es heißt "im Internet", so wie "im TV". :)
