Das klingt sehr seltsam. Also das Teil in der Kirche ist ein Weihrauchschwenker, ich hätte "incense" jetzt auch generell mit "Weihrauch" übersetzt. Im Privatgebrauch wäre es eine Räucherpfanne.
Offenbar bezieht sich Duftrauchbrenner nur auf die in China verwendeten Räuchergefäße.

I only discovered it when doing research for this post! BTW, "thurible" and "thurifer" are great words, but I never heard them growing up. The incense burner at mass was called a "censer" and there was no special name for the person who carried it.

Man unterscheidet nach Weihrauch, das ist das in der Kirche, und das was im Indienladen und verkauft wird, sind meist Räucherstäbchen.
Die kleinen "cones" (da fällt mir grad das deutsche Wort nicht ein - ach doch, - Kegel, Räucherkegel, die man, vorwiegend im Osten, in der Vorweihnachtszeit abbrennt, stellt man meist in eine Art Holzfigur, genannt Räuchermännchen.

Sorry, as usually my mind went faster than my fingers. Santiago, as the patron of Spain, used to be national holiday. Now it's just for Galicia and maybe another Autonomous Community when they run short on holidays (we've got 10 national, 2 regional and 2 local in total).

We Catalans celebrate Sant Joan instead (which is the summer's solstice celebration), or even Second Easter (this is because our Catholic tradition is French and not Castilian).

Yes, it's quite a mess trying to figure out sometimes where a holiday takes place. But this being the "fiesta country", party and holidays are serious business!
