Morning vision

This was a model morning. I woke up at 7 a.m., just as the morning sun was lighting up the treetops to the west. I found
monshu in the office reading articles about Japanese cloisonné. I made some spiced tea and we each had a bowl of apple crumble. Then I took a leisurely shower, got dressed, and toddled off to work. It was chilly, but sunny and milder than I expected, and I got to the shuttle stop in plenty of time. On the way up, I read the next Hindi lesson inbetween glimpses of the autumn foliage. When I got into the office, my student was hard at work and I sat down opposite him and started in on some cataloging left over from the day before; the hours until lunch flew by.
Of course,
monshu was only home because he was so tired out from last night's events that he called in sick. But seeing him there reminded me of my dream that one day he'll be able to retire and spend his days reading up on everything he doesn't have time to learn now. And, in my perfect vision, I'm not hobbling along with a jammed big toe, but I'd better get used to indispositions like that. It's not like I'm going to become more robust at I get older.
