I do plan to write a bit about the outing to Pilsen this afternoon, which was a pleasant time with people I don't see enough of. But first, here's something I promised them from my explorations on YouTube. Call it the first in my Halloween series. A couple weeks ago, I felt a pining for what is still one of the greatest dance singles in the history of the genre. Even though I must've listened to it hundreds of times during the summer after college graduation alone, I never tire of that dumpa-dumpa beat and the slightly off-kilter electrohandclaps.

WARNING: The images are not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach. Who can be the first person on my Flist to ID all the source films?

I'm the first to admit I'm not the biggest horror fan, and the limited number of movies I could ID proves it. For the record, here's what I got:

Nosferatu
The Raven
Sleepy Hollow

At least one Hellraiser movie
At least one Phantasm movie
The Birds
The Rocky Horrow Picture Show
The Omen
Shaun of the Dead

At least one Nightmare on Elm Street movie
Near Dark
At least one episode of Angel
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Also in there are clips from Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Zombie/Zombi 2 and Return of the Living Dead.

Wow. I didn't know that Ministry made dance pop before they made industrial metal.

Is that clown from Stephen King's It?

Judging from the comments to that video, you're not the only one. Due to a popular beer ad on t.v., "Everyday is Halloween" got a new lease on life about the same time as The mind is a terrible thing to taste came out. As a result, a number of teenyboppers went to the RollerBall tour expecting "bop bop bop bopbop" and got "I'M WALKING ON SPLINTERS!!!" (as <lj user=sliv1? latter recounted to me with great glee).
