We have had hella fireflies in Oklahoma. All shinin' their asses to get laid, all buzzin' 'round the yard in the humid night air, buzzing with cicadas also trying to get their particular groove on.
w00t! Just saw our first fireflies here in Omaha too. Nothing like insect disco lights to get a guy thinking about, well, the birds and the bees so to speak!
I like having them out; adds variety to the landscape. How's the weather been up there? Oklahoma has had lots and lots of rain. When I was in Austin recently it was drier however, so I'm guessing it didn't get that far south.
Schweet! Still haven't seen fireflies here, but yesterday we saw our first dragonfly of the year, a big ol' Green Darner buzzing around and grabbing her dinner of mosquitoes and gnats. I was so happy to see her!
Thanks for the good tidings on the firefly front too - hope we'll see 'em here soon.

Hmm...what other summer signposts should we be keeping an eye out for? We've got "summer snow" and catalpa blooms, roses and--oh! No katydids yet!
