No more lazy Sundays

It's a beautiful day to be doing nothing. The first catalpas are blooming and will never look better. Within a week, the sidewalks underneath them will be a vile slick of blackened rotting blooms, but the flowers shaken loose by the winds and rains of the past few days are still creamy and fresh. My heart goes out to those who are in allergy hell due to cottonwood fluff, but I love the appearance of "summer snow" almost as much as I love listening to the soughing of their large leaves.
Right now, I'm praying I'll have a chance to enjoy both as we eat grilled meat with good friends out on
monshu's deck, but that's all up to the caprices of the summer storms blowing through. We had a cloudburst around 8 a.m. that brought on some ugly humidity, but miraculously a change in the wind brought us fine air and sunny skies by midday. Poor
monshu was chased out of his house by a showing which got cancelled at literally the last minute, so I gave him shelter, scrambled eggs, and a place to sleep while I filed papers going back to at least when I first moved in to my place.
When he awoke, we strolled to Pause for coffee and eye candy (lots of the latter for me, but sadly little for Mr Picky) on the seats out front, so even if the fickle weather drives us inside tonight, I'll have that. In the meantime, I feel honour-bound to head back to my pad with
monshu's plunger and get a bit more done before I merit lolling around and being fed tonight. I've already bought the primer for my bare pillar and walls, but mercifully I can't slap it up until I've given the plaster at least a week to cure. So next weekend is already written off, making it even more important to take advantage of what remains of this one.
