In other family news, I am a stepuncle! Twice over! And I've been so for three days now, but it's absolutely characteristic of how my family communicates that no one bothered to tell me until my sister mentioned it in passing in an e-mail today. (Plus I'd wager even money that bunj is only learning about it through reading this entry.)

congrats... so wait, what does it mean exactly? Your sister (or brother?) married someone who brought children into the marriage. Right?

No, my father married a woman with two children, both of which married and one of which just bore two kids. Since the other sibling already has a daughter, what I should've said is "I'm a stepuncle again", but she's in California and I won't see her again until July, so I hope she'll forgive me for not remembering her in the wee hours of this morning.
