Last night, I was so sleepy that I read barely half a chapter of a Flann O'Brien book before I fell asleep sitting up. Despite a crazy series of dreams (including a clutch of vignettes inspired by browsing a book on Romanian miners and a sequence about blond merchants from the UAE setting up trading posts among the Basque tribes of the Mississippi Valley that came from I have no idea where), I actually feel well-rested. That means that [livejournal.com profile] monshu and I will be meeting for drinks in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency tonight, probably to be followed by dinner out afterward. (Any suggestions?)

We plan on arriving around 5:30. If you're downtown tonight, feel free to stop by. The paired escalators of ascending and descending leatherfolk in full drag is a sight that everyone should behold at least once in their lifetime.

Is it that time of the year already? Darn, that doesn't leave me a whole lot of time to find a really sheltered friend I can drag in there and watch as their head explodes.

I'd suggest The Gage. (Dinner menu here.)

Alas, (1) reservations necessary at that hour on a Friday and (2) [livejournal.com profile] monshu at there just last weekend and wasn't too impressed. We're looking for something more informal, so it could well end up being Sayat-Nova again. Or didn't we once get into Bandera with only a short wait at that time of day?

If you don't feel like eating at Sayat-Nova again, Indian Garden usually isn't too crowded, though the service is pretty slow. If you want something really informal, there's always the cafe at Fox and Obel!

That's a good suggestion, actually. I really like it and it's unlikely to be crowded this late in the day.

Dreamed last night the you were in a coma and going to die unless we painted your entire body with rubber cement. So we did!
