Not sure what you mean by macacht; it's not a word I've ever seen. Are you going for "boyhood"?

go mbínn. Most people would probably say aerach for "carefree"; it's not likely to be misinterpreted as "gay" in this particular context! Neamhbhuartha sounds a bit clinical.

If I were to rewrite this in as natural-sounding a way as possible, I'd say níl cuimhne chomh maith sin agam ar m'óige is go bhféadfainn a rá cén cineál duine a bhí ionam. Most of the changes I made are stylistic or related to flow/rhythm, but if you do want to keep you original and use oiread, you'd need to say ní cuimhin liom m'óige an oiread sin is go mbeinn in ann a rá cén cineál duine a bhí ionam. For that end bit you could also say cén cineál duine ba ea mé.
