Another Gay Evening

muckefuckDrug myself to $1 Burger Night last night even though I wasn't really feeling up to it. I woke up yesterday saying, Wow, for all that deadly white sangria I drank last night, I only feel slightly hungover--go me! By mid-afternoon, however, it was O God, how am I going to make it to 5 p.m.? I thought I'd stay an hour, but--wouldn't you know it--all the people I'd been hoping to see the week before and didn't chose to show up then. This is how one hour became three.
As a result, I saw selections from about half of 300--which does not work at all in a gay bar setting--and samples from the entire length of Another Gay Movie--which got the best reception imaginable. Normally everyone ignores what's on the television, since it isn't synched to the audio. Okay, maybe you'll get one or two lonely queens watching the close captioned AbFab episodes, but it's hardly the main event. Last night, I had the experience of seeing a gag on a screen near me and hearing laughter break out throughout the joint.
It was pretty much every kind of terrible you'd expect from a deliberate attempt to film a gay version of American Pie. The one ray of light for me was making one of the four kamikaze virgins a daddy-chaser, which means that any curiosity I might've had about "million-dollar bear" Richard Hatch's weenie is now completely satisfied. Also, I was completely flabbergasted to see Graham Norton in a supporting role as one character's teacher fantasy.
