Oh, joy, power failure at work! I was heading into the restroom at the time and had to grope my way back to the office on account of the complete lack of emergency lighting in the corridor. The fluorescent lights came back up a few minutes later, but not everywhere. Currently, they're normal in my section, totally dark on the far side of the room, and the space in between is a "flicker zone" where they appear to be in a constant state of coming on.
Edit: This entry was longer by two paragraphs at one point, but they got chopped by another power cut. After that, it seemed like the circuit breakers were being played with by a malicious engineer, so I decided to leave my machine off. In a nearly unprecedented move, our boss sent us home shortly after. I found out this morning that it was an hour after that before power was fully restored.
Thank you, ComEd! Boy, I'm sure glad we're not paying higher rates for your continued shitty service! (Oh, wait, we are. Never mind that last bit, then.)
