Edit: Perhaps I should explain. Periodically, to reassure myself that I actually do learn and retain new words in the languages I'm studying, I quiz myself by writing down all the vocabulary I remember picking up in the past few days. (If you click on the "vocabulary" tag, you'll find some earlier instances.)

I've explained two of these terms below. The others which are not self-evident are 宰 zǎi, which does have the primary meaning of "butcher", but in slang means "rip off, gouge"; and 拌飯 bànfàn, which is the Chinese for 비빔밥 bibimbap. (Both names translate as "mixed cooked.rice".)

this is the first time I've tried running any Chinese through babelfish: either it is, as I expected, next to useless unless you have at least some idea of what you'll be getting, or you're engaging in some dadaist blank versifying.

Either way, I like the result. Especially the way 'temperament' becomes 'spleen' when run through the simplified Chinese translator.

I had a sneaking suspicion that babelfish might continue to read across rather than down, so I tried turning the whole statement into one line, yielding:
The new refined language butchers the hand to burn not mixes the steamed bread spleen machine machine fear food gas or The new refined language butchers the hand to burn not the mixing machine machine fear food Steamed bread temperament depending on where I made my line cuts.

...I don't think ither of these is an improvement. Perhaps the whole statement is a lament about simplified Chinese. Perhaps I should stop wasting my time now and wait for someone who can actually read Chinese.

None of the above! It refers to having your mobile phone (手機 or "hand machine"; in Cantonese slang also 大哥大 or "elder brother") stolen and expensive calls charged to the account.
