Wrong foods return!

For once, it's not my fault. The weird Asian snacks at work today were brought in by a Chinese co-worker--and early Chinese New Year commemoration. They're actually rather Westernised this year. I think she learned a lesson last time when she laid out a pile of preserved fruit (including haw) that few people ate. There's a chocolate cake, lemon tea cookies, tiny peanuts--

And Ningbo beef jerky.

It doesn't look anything like Slim Jims®. It's cut into small cubes and wrapped in silver wrappers with maroon printing. It looks like candy--so much so, in fact, that she put a sign by it that says This is not candy!. Otherwise, it would be like reliving that childhood trauma where you discover the bouillon cubes and put one in your mouth because, hey, it's wrapped in foil and hidden in the cabinet? It must be candy!

They're dry, beefy, spicy, and also somewhat sweet. Not bad, but I would shudder to see the nutritional information on them, I'm sure. More salt than Doritos®! More sugar than a Snickers® bar!

I wonder where I can buy them...
