What did we do before Wikipedia?

For all its faults, I still find myself relying on it a helluva lot. Today I was killing some time and I decided to check out their article on the Mumbai bombings. (That's an indication of how far things have come: From I wonder if they have an article on X? to I wonder what their article on X looks like.) As it turns out, pretty darn good. You could get as much out of reading it as out of a half-dozen news articles--and this for an event which occurred only ten hours ago.

BTW, I'm not surprised that people are seeing the hand of Dawood Ibrahim behind this, but I am mildly surprised to find that he's been working so closely with a Kashmiri separatist group. I didn't think he really had a dog in that fight, but I guess he's a friend to Islamic extremists anywhere in India these days.

If Dawood Ibrahim is really residing in Pakistan under the protection of ISI, it would be hardly surprising for him to be working with ISI's other clients. (I think there's some more stuff about this in Maximum City, but my copy is on loan to <lj user="mollpeartree".)
