Bear Pride: Here's to old friends

I was wondering Should I go?
aadroma and I were crashed out on a sofa in the basement lounge, failing to stifle yawns. After an hour or so of dancing, I deeply needed to hydrate, so when he left to greet someone, I got into the service line. (Latest heinous club innovation: Modifying faucets so they only spew very warm water, ruining them for refiling the water bottle that cost you $4.50. Pigfuckers!) I stood there long enough to talk myself into buying a shot of tequila in the hopes of dampening the good sense telling me to pack it in. At first, the effect seemed nugatory. I roamed the floors in an unsuccessful search for a few of the many decent folk who had assured me of their presence. Finally, I took up a position above the dance floor and spectated.
It couldn't have been a few minutes before I felt some furry tummy rubbing me in the small of my shirtless back and hips grinding into mine in time to the music. I heard someone talking to me very familiarly, but it was impossible to recognise the voice in that din or glimpse the face pinned against the rail as I was. On some level, it didn't matter; my belonging had been established. There was enough scent of the bear tribe still on me to attract someone's attention.
It turned out to be one of my oldest acquatainces in the bear world, a co-founder of the local bear club who moved away years ago and whom I only see at this gathering. He chatted a bit about inconsequentialities, invited me to come see him in Phoenix, and left me in a far better mood than he'd found me. I danced for another half-hour or so up there; after another pair of buddies I'd been hoping to see snuck up behind me, I concluded that it was better to let the world come to me. When
nytemarewulf popped up and apologised for being too hoarse to converse, I told him it made no difference and pressed my body against his to make my point. Eventually, I spotted
monshu's neighbours and my escorts for the night and left
nytemarewulf in the arms of an admirer to rejoin them.
