Resolved!

I'm not normally one for New Year's resolutions, but I've become increasingly dissatisfied with the way I've been living. The choice of January 1st may be arbitrary, but so would the choice of any other date--short of waiting for a personal crisis to solidify my resolve, and I decided I'm not going to let that happen. Who needs the drama?

So my resolution is honesty. Boy (and it shames me to say this), is this one going to be a bitch.

I definitely don't tell the whole truth in this journal. The line between simply excluding details which are privileged or irrelevant and excluding details selectively in order to convey a false impression is tricky to negotiate and I can't say I've always erred on the side of honesty.

But I was primarily thinking of people I interact with frequently IRL. There's a bigger gap between the impressions I deliberately convey and the underlying reality than I'm comfortable with and I want to change that.
