UFR: Sudden shower
I meant to post this yesterday, but, lo, what distractions lay in wait for me!
I was nearing l'épicentre de la freake in my 'hood when I saw someone eating a donut and...yanking on a tree branch. It was a small tree, barely taller than the man himself, locked inside one of those sidewalk grills and almost leafless. The man had thick specs and ruglike dark hair. He held the food in his right hand, leapt up, and--between bites--yanked the branch with his left--not enough to break it, just enough to make it shake.
I couldn't figure out why until I noticed on a styrofoam coffee cup wedged on the bough. When the branch snapped back into place, water would splash out of the cup and our man freaky would try to jump under it as it fell.

I am The Man.
It wouldn't have been as silly if I hadn't been wearing a tweed, work slacks, sneakers, and my iPod. Unless undercover cops these days are sneakier than I suspected.

Not quite as weird, but ...
On my way home from work today--a bit early so I could finish packing before a trip to see my folks--I saw an older woman veiled from head to toe in black (her face was showing)with kohl ringing her eyes who was staring with some disgust at a younger blond women dressed for the weather; i.e., a skimpy halter top and short shorts--with iPod blugged into her ears naturally. The contrast would have made a fine picture. Talk about a clash of cultures!
