Wow, I am still high from all the fun I packed into three short days. Jesuit dinner party Friday, calligraphy brunch on Sunday, Japanese tapas and dollar burgers on Monday. Yesterday went especially well. I awoke feeling woozy and under the weather, but by bedtime I was feeling no pain at all. (The free pitcher of beer--compliments of the owner of Big Chicks--which I had to finish without much help from my friends doubtless contributed.) I can't thank [livejournal.com profile] monshu enough for all the work he put into making it a fantastic weekend.

I feel like I should say more, but I also feel like a nice long liedown.

A happy Da is a good thing.

PS: What was the high school where Monshu taught in LA?

Loyola Academy, if memory serves. (I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong.) Unofficial motto: "Built on a bluff--and run on the same principle."

I understand, but as a result you missed the Fruity Sticks in a Hello Kitty! carrying case/coin bank. I hope you can live with yourself!

Important Clarification

Before you do any more blogging about last night, I must amend one of my statements: -e didn't just pick out the mandolin. She also found the hawthorn candy. I jumped right on board, but she's the one who found them.

I feel better now. A great injustice has been redressed.

P.S. My new book looks awesome. It has an appendix with all the transliterations and the original characters. Thank you, Elder Brother.

The truth has set me free.

BTW, you owe yourself your own trip to Paragon Books. [livejournal.com profile] monshu and I easily could've dropped $3,000 at that place.

How does one *go* to Paragon Books? I found their address once and stood outside wondering if it was By Invitation Only or something.

We followed the delivery man in, though I suppose if he hadn't come along we would've rung the bell ourselves and been buzzed in.

(BTW, used Nelson, original ed., $10. Go me!)

Hey, can't beat $1.43 per pound...

I'm sorry I missed out on dollar burgers. I got tapped to go see a public preview screening of the new Disney-distributed animated movie Valiant (p.u.) and write an instant-turnaround review, so I didn't get home til midnight.

Visitors from China

Brunch on Sunday was just delightful--Marty and Yiju joined us with her parents. Mr.Huang is quite the accomplished calligrapher--see examples. He presented us with three large pieces of his calligraphy each. I can only say that we made out like bandits! See a photo of the happy grouphere.
