THUNDERSTORM, storm of THUNDER!
YEEEEEHAAAAAA!!! It wasn't until I was leaving for lunch when I noticed the sky looked suspiciously dark. Once I was outside, I could see the clear delimination between the brightness to the east and south and the swirling, ragged thunderheads streaming toward us on a refereshing north wind. I changed my lunch plans to take a ringside seat in a lakeside cafe where heads kept turning toward the windows to check the state of the weather. We got a few small flashes, a rumble or two, and then at about twenty to two the skies OPENED.
It poured for about fifteen minutes, with lashing winds and standing water on all the pavements. Only one major thunderclap, but it was enough to make everybody jump. Damn, I wish I could've gone running about like a kid, but sitting for three hours at work soaked to the skin is definitely No Fun At All. I waited it out with a co-worker while we talked excitely about playing in runoff as children and I wondered how
monshu was making out on his trip home.
And to think I just about left my windows open before I left because the weather report had said nothing about rain and I knew I'd be coming home early to pack! Now, of course, we are all sitting around with huge sheets of plastic near at hand waiting for the water to come through the ceiling.
