muckefuckMan, did I ever want to play hookey today! It really doesn't get any more gorgeous around here. The ornamental pears are fading, but they had a remarkably good run. The brief rain last night knocked lose a lot of petals, revealing the leaves which had grown in underneath; overnight, the streetscape near me went from "spring" to "summer". Judas trees everywhere are in full bloom and the chestnuts are just starting. This will be an excellent weekend to hit a graveyard if I can talk my older brother into it. (He says he wants to visit the Conservatory, but I don't know to what degree he's just fixating.)
Incidentally, better-than-average Bear Night last Saturday. I was thinking of going myself, since the May one is often a bit of a Bear Pride Preview, and then![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
monshu suggested a joint outing. I'm never to sure what he gets out of things, since (1) there's little eye candy for him and (2) her never talks to anyone he doesn't already know. It's not so bad when ottr4bear comes along, since it gives the two of them a chance to catch up, but he wasn't available.
But we had a real stroke of luck: I was giving a buddy of mine trouble about two-fisting Red Bull and segued naturally from this into a conversation about drunkenness with one of his acquaintances who I didn't know. He turned out to be a real sweet guy (they breed 'em that way in Kentucky)--not to mention GWO-toothsome--and, after a bit, I was able to slip off for my slut lap knowing thatmonshu was in very good hands. Later, I introduced myself to a nice white-haired daddy who looked like someone I'd met before and--I hope--didn't come off like too much of a dork. I guess I'll find out if I run into him again later in the month, won't I?
So, who's coming into town this Mem Day? I'm thinking I don't want to leave rendezvous completely to chance again, like I usually do. It's a bit dispiriting to realise there are local people I hoped to get together with that I haven't seen since last May, but that will provide an impetus to do better this year, right?
