Schneeflöckchen, Weissröckchen
Just as I shut off the light to go to sleep last night, I noticed that the sinking temperature had finally converted the raindrops to snowflakes. I watched them dance in the orangey glare of the low-sodium streetlamps for a while and then dreamed utterly crazy dreams about occult tantric Internet demons. (No more scotch and schnitzel right before bedtime for me!) I awoke to the rising sun for the first time in a week; I'd forgotten how beautifully it lights up my main room during those first few minutes. And I cut through the park on my way to the el to get a glimpse of the snowfall before it all melted away. There must've been a strong northwest wind last night, since that side of the trees was plastered with snow. One concrete light pole was picture-perfectly divided between a clean half and a snow-covered half. On the sidewalk, meltwater had formed leaf-like shapes, almost as if wet hawthorn leaves had been lying there until moment before I came by.
Does anyone have any good songs to sing as snowflakes are falling? The only English-language one I know is "Let It Snow", which gets old really fast!
