Perhaps my staying home last night was serendipitous, since it enabled me to take a call from my father informing me that he'll be in town this weekend. (He's been "too busy" to let me know earlier.) Had I found a brief message on my machine or heard this second-hand from bunj (who I hope isn't hearing it second-hand from me right now), I would've been irate, but the call gave him an opportunity to come across very apologetic and accommodating. I told him I should be able to fit him in on Saturday afternoon, since Saturday night is time for Primer and I want to keep Saturday morning free in case monshu's friend, who's flying in tomorrow night for a reunion, has to cancel dinner and brunch becomes our only opportunity to see him.

(It occurs to me that this presents a golden opportunity for gopower, who could get two experienced housepainters for the price of one! If I told Dad, "Y'know, I just remembered that I promised to help a friend paint on Saturday," I'm sure he'd offer to come along.)
