Weekend reading
Amazing! Not only was shipping free, but the books arrived within two days instead of the minimum ten days Amazon had predicted!
Annoying! Because my imbecile mail carrier forgot to notify me, I only discovered the books were here by tracking them on the the USPS site. They've been sitting in my building's package room a whole week and I didn't actually see them until today.
I got back from vacation brimming with the Chesapeake. Every gift shop we went into down there had Pirates of the Chesapeake, but at full hardcover price. I told myself, I know I can find this cheaper online and I was right--but at the cost of not having the book in my hot little hands immediately.
monshu can tell you that a week ago I was whining every day, "I wish my books were here!"
Regardless, they're here now. Pirates doesn't look as engrossing as I'd hoped, but it's companion, Beautiful swimmers : watermen, crabs and the Chesapeake Bay [sic, I'm afraid,
cpratt] looks, if anything, better than the blurbs made it sound. There's even a whole chapter on Crisfield!
