At the Chicago Public Library near the end of the day. Not the main branch; it was located in a park and had a very open, one-story plan. I decided it was my dream and I'd do things my way. At first, I wanted to just change the scenery with a "poof!" but I settled for giving myself I had magical powers. I saw a big fantasy atlas called the Atlas of Apgarius that I wanted to look through so I could recall the names when I woke up, so I decided to spirit it back to my home. I walked to the exit and said, "I use magic to spoof the alarm. When I go through, I'll go up those stairs and the exit will be on the left." And so it was! I hid in a tree while I stuffed the book into my bag.

Then I decided to magic my way back home to my huge house. I looked at a playground on a hill and determined that this was the perfect sympathetic spot from which to teleport there. Actually the perfect perfect spot was the centre of a large jungle gym which was architecturally similar to my house, but there were kids playing there, so I settled for a small, high platform next to a telephone pole. I saw a friend and he flew there first and helped hoist me up the last few feet when my flying failed. A homeless guy had been watching us and muttering about how magic was particularly strong this day; he floated up and joined us, too.

I invited everyone with us back to my place. To get there, I instructed them to link their arms in a way reminiscent of the house's structure. (I guess I was functioning as the contagion in this spell.) We had six people; I took the hands of the woman across from me and tried to everyone else to do the same so that we formed a hexagon in the centre. But they seemed confused and couldn't get it right despite my repeated urgings; the dream ended without the spell working.

Meanwhile--and I wish I could remember more of this sidebar because it concerned [livejournal.com profile] caitalainn. There was some series of commercials that consisted largely of sentences appearing alongside a video of two people walking seen from medium distance or more. One of the people with us joked that we should translate them into a foreign language for [livejournal.com profile] caitlalainn. As she spoke, the video (which I could glance at over my left shoulder) began to change. Suddenly, as sentences appeared, marked up versions of them--with the sentence analysis notation I learned in high school--appeared below them, with commentary. I began to laugh. Then I saw more sentences below in what looked like a simple constructed language (the only word I remember is "shě") which looked like one of [livejournal.com profile] caitalainn's own devising.
