Remember, but never regret

Well I managed to haul my draggy ass to yesterday's cookout after all, and it was worth it just to be present at the genesis of the Harvey Fierstein Safeword-A-Day app for the iPhone. ("Today's safewohd is 'AWNING'. Be safe, play hahd!") By extension, hanging out in the kind of company which can hatch a gem like this was pretty groovy, too. My innards are still not 100% happy with me, but I don't think an Ultimate Burger did them any harm and I know my mouth doesn't regret the experience.

On the other hand, I really could've gone without getting to know "Pub Corn", booze-flavoured popcorn snagged by rollick at the recent Candy Expo so lovingly written up in The Onion. Coatings derived from naturally cloying liqueurs, such as the Irish Creme, were not much more repulsive than you'd expect, but the Beer flavour...I mean, why didn't occur to anyone during the development process that the only time beer and sickly sweetness come together is in a substance you would never want to eat even if you were starving?

As much as I enjoyed tonight's 8-1 blowout (sorry, bunj, for ruining the 4th for you with my lack of TiVo awareness), the game I really wish I'd seen is last night's. Nine-and-a-half scoreless innings, and it all comes down to a single run in the bottom of the 10th? Amazing!

In other baseball news, how bout them Padres? Also, Cubs fan must be overjoyed at the end of their club's eight game losing streak. (When I made mention of the recent sweep last weekend, my touchy neighbour pointed out that at least they were doing better than the White Sox. Yeah, you and fourteen other major league teams.)
