Construction season
Y'all know the joke: Chicago has two seasons, 'winter' and 'construction.' For me there is one notable compensation when the temps during the latter get nastily high: Construction + Hot weather = Shirtless construction workers. Woof!
There's a building been going up on the Loyola campus for a while now. (Where are they getting all the money for their building boom? Last I heard, they were so impoverished they were slashing away at programmes like a cane cutter.) Since the site is right by the el, I pass it every morning on the way to work. About a month or so back, the top floor was approaching the height of the cars and I couldn't wait for it to warm up enough that I'd have a banquet of eye candy to take the curse off the bleary early-morning hours. (Not that denim-coated butts aren't a treat, but y'all know what a tits-'n'-paunch many I am.) Alas, my window has closed! The uppermost floor is unviewable and walls are rapidly rising on the others. I just have to pray that I get a second chance when the condos near the Main stop start rising. Will they make it before fall sets in?
So, girls, tell me: Where are the hottest spots for hardhat watching near you? Is there anyplace rewarding enough to merit a special gawping expedition?
