This post is intended to make all of you transplanted Midwesterners seven shades of green. Last night, we had a fantastic thunderstorm. It rolled in around 4:30 a.m. and just doused the landscape. Lightning strikes were so numerous that there was no pause between thunderclaps or flashes--there was always something going on somewhere along the horizon, and often in several places at once. monshu, on the other hand, has a commanding view of the western horizon with windows that reach from knee-level to ceiling. Since I knew he'd be awake and I wasn't getting any sleep anyway, I called him up to share the experience. The heaviest part lasted about a half an hour; I was pleasantly surprised to get to work and not find it leaking.
