Last night, we had a lovely time snuggling nude on the couch; this morning, she's alternating unpredictably between indifference, annoyance, and whining. What is it with cats?
I was up a little after five and couldn't sleep, so I decided to make the best of it and come in early. I couldn't tell if the funny smell in the train car was one of the other riders or something in the seat. There were two men with fantastic beards, but, in my neighbourhood, that means they're probably bums. Best case scenario, construction workers.
A few stops after the beards got off, a pleasant suprise: That fascinating co-worker I had lunch with almost a month ago got on and said, "Mind if I join you?" before taking the seat next to mine. As we reached downtown, I said, "Actually, I was going to get some breakfast. Care to join me?"
I learned all about his other half, an artist who is "in transition" right now. (At one point, he had to pull out his cell phone and give the guy a call so he wouldn't oversleep. My boyfriend has to do that for me sometimes, too!) We discussed opera and office politics, early rising and space issues. Altogether a lovely way to start the day.
I thought I'd get to work energised, full of bacon, and ready to get some goddamn work done, but there must be a miasma over my desk, since I feel dizzy and oogy. No matter; long lunch, ham dinner tonight, and two more days off of work. Hello lethargy!
