Thanks to everyone who participated in the plant names quiz. Note that contributions are still welcome--even if your native language isn't English! A lot of people wrote that they "should" have done better; I don't see why. I knew my family was more interested in plants than is typical. I just didn't realise the gap was that great*. Also, vegetation is inherently more local than other items, so it's not surprising that species which have always been part of my milieu are novel to some of you.
*[If it makes anyone feel any better, I'll note that I took the quiz in German and could only name one item with certainty---and that's becausenibadi and I discussed it this spring. I could make educated guesses on three or four more. Several names I even looked up some years ago and then forgot. Still feeling ignorant? Well, I tried.]
