I feel like wandering through a graveyard or two tomorrow, when the weather's supposed to be good and [livejournal.com profile] monshu is busy, busy, busy. Who wants to come with?

Yes, but it isn't as rich in wildlife and other diversions as Gracehill. I was also thinking of hitting Bonvary for the first time, even though it seems as dull as Califace.

Thank you for handling that better than I ever could. When I saw his response to it, I so wanted to drop all pretense of civility and retort:

Welcome to the planet Maturia! We have much to teach you!

I've seen kestrels at Roseland, which made me very happy. Where are Bonvary and Califace?

Welcome to the planet Maturia!

Well, he is only 18. This is not an excuse, it's a reminder that he hasn't really landed on the planet yet. I recall your comments wondering why ANYONE would want to have sex with a teenager.

Anyway. I thought you handled it fine. The boy has a lot to learn about civility, but really, that doesn't bother me as much as the fact that he can dish it out but not take it. I wouldn't have stepped in (I stifled the urge to interfere in your conversation with [livejournal.com profile] nihilistic_kid, even though he was annoying me, because I figured you were both adults and it would be somewhat unfair of me to jump in and take sides), but at the point where he started telling people who and what they were allowed to respond to in my journal… grrrrr.

I still don't think he gets it, sadly. He just sees a bunch of people picking on him because he doesn't approve of kangaroo-killin'.

Calvary separates Rogers Park from Evanston. It's where they moved the Catholic dead to when they decided to make Lincoln Park a park. I know people who have seen deer there, but it's mostly open land with little of the brush or shade trees you find at Rosehill, Graceland, or Oakwoods (on the South Side). I've seen foxes in two of those places.

St. Boniface is on the east side of Clark between Lawrence and Argyle. It also looks relatively unwooded, but some of the monuments are promising. Based on the name, I expect that's where many of the German Catholics from Lincoln Avenue got dumped. Where I'd really like to go is Bohemian National, but that is Out There.

I am currently saddled with in-laws, and would find it hard to get away to a cemetary right now, but I like the idea of a Bohemian National trip. I want to see the Mother statue and Cermak's grave. How 'bout in a week or two?

Have car, will transport.

Sounds great! This is not the only weekend Monshu will be caught up with work; he has a class to teach in the spring. But, speaking of in-laws, have plans congealed? (I'm still at work and I've given the GWO the night off.)

Playin' in Rollick's sandbox

Teenagers are always like that. My friend Owlet (not the lovable rogue, but the bitchin' female who gave me a clever name to steal) had problems with one on the Brunching bb. He had real difficulty recognising that his actions had consequences for other posters. She basically had to hit him over the head with this fact to get him to change. This was essentially what I was trying to do with 'Roo boy, but I lacked the authority you did, since it's your livejournal. So I was glad you stepped in. And I agree that he didn't understand what he was being called on. ("Why are you still picking on me when I already gave you a grudging, insincere-sounding apology?") But if it happens again, he may begin to see a pattern emerge. If he doesn't, it's no skin off my nose. I'll just go on ignoring him or reading him For Amusement Purposes Only like before.

As you point out, it was an entirely different situation with [livejournal.com profile] nihlistic_kid. There it was a mixture of talking past each other and a clash of attitudes and argumentation styles. He didn't like mine and I didn't like his, but we were both adult enough to recognise this and stop arguing before we got pissy with each other. At least, that's how I read the situation; I've no doubt, given how much we disagree on, that he doesn't see it the same way. But he made me think hard about the issue and my attitudes toward it, whereas all flaggy did was teach me a little patience. (Though every little bit helps.)
