I can't believe it! Lake-effect snow this morning--and it's actually sticking! I'm going for a walk in the park now to see how much is left now that we've reached today's high of like 2 degrees centigrade.
The squirrels were going nuts this morning, so to speak, scrambling for food with a lot more energy than usual. Our prolonged spell of good weather may be ending
I remember it well. I would get up early and walk down to the lake at about Foster Ave, and walk along the side walk to about Lawrence Ave. It was almost pictureque. OTOH, if the snow started in the late evening, I would walk the same course post midnight (being wary of police) and the world was almost at peace.
Do I miss those days? Yes, I bit. I haven't seen snow since leaving Chicago save for a trip to Lassen State Park...where it snowed in early September. I love snow for the first day, and then...bleh!
That's roughly where I walked--from just north of the Foster Street Beach to just south of it. There was no snow on the dead leaves, only on patches of bare earth and on the beach sands.
For me, the magic lasts at least as long as the first real snow (this one hardly even counts as a dusting), but by February I'm as sick of the stuff as everyone else.
BTW, are your kanji a little out of order, sfkuma? Reading from top to bottom, I get "big bear mountain gold". I would've expected "gold mountain big bear".
I thought of you last night as I passed a Mexican music store. They had a big cd sale going and I said to myself, Wonder if they have any Oreja de Van Gogh?
