Microcosm goes macro
Totally odd weather this morning. At first, there was clear blue directly above me and the entire western sky was overcast. When it began to rain, I was so taken aback that it took me a few moments to decipher what was happening. Then, even odder, the sun came out and I wondered what kind of omen this was. At Howard, the cloudburst was in full swing, but at my stop, the sidewalks were bone dry. Walking the last leg, I saw smoke-coloured clouds and heard thunder, but the first drops didn't fall until I was steps from the entrance. I have no idea what it's like out now. There's no downpour, so was that spattering all there was?
It all reflects how I feel. According to what I can see online, the mutual fund shares have been redeemed, but I won't know until noon whether the wire has gone through and I can leave work early to go get my cashiers check. Then it's back up to Uptown for the final walk-through followed by more packing madness in the old place. I have several bottles of alcohol I'd meant to finish before moving out; maybe I'll hit them tonight. Otherwise, I don't know how I'll sleep.
Update: Now the sun is shining! Less than 24 hours to go until closing.

I want to paint before I move in. I'd start tomorrow, if possible, but I still haven't picked my colours! (Who knew Sherwin Williams closes at four p.m. on a Sunday? What are they, Adventists?)
Asking friends to help paint is one thing. Asking them to take off work during the week or travel across the city and back on a work night to help paint is more demanding then I'm willing to be.
Some of my stuff gets moved on Friday. It should make a dandy pile in the living room that can be worked around. (I only plan to paint one wall in there anyway.) How were you planning to spend Labour Day weekend?
